The skin on our lips is particularly sensitive and requires special care. Food, environmental influences, heat, cold or even dry heating air all affect our lips, as they are usually uncovered and exposed to all weather conditions. In general, drinking enough water is important for healthy, radiant skin. But lips in particular need additional care from the outside. The skin on the lips often feels dry and cracked as there are very few sebaceous glands. The body's own supply of lip skin is therefore rather low, which is why the skin on the lips tends to be dry.
A lip balm cares for and nourishes the lips with valuable ingredients and ensures smooth, radiant and full skin. When buying lip balm, make sure that it does not contain any mineral oils. This is because mineral oils swell the skin and make it even more sensitive to external influences. At first, the lips look fuller and smoother as a film is formed and the skin's moisture is sealed in. Mineral oils are often labeled in the ingredients as kerosene, petrolatum or mineral oil. Alternatives are products with shea butter, , coconut oil or cocoa butter, which nourish the lips and provide them with important ingredients.
If you have sensitive lips, you should opt for a lip balm that does not contain perfume, fragrances or colorants. The skin often reacts sensitively to these ingredients.
You should avoid frequently moistening your lips with your tongue, as this dries them out even more.
Especially in winter, our lips need gentle care, as dry heating air and the cold outside cause the lips to become extremely dry and chapped.
