What should you look out for in nail polish remover?

Nail polish remover is available in liquid form, as a correcting stick, as a cream or as a gel. Acetone, ethyl acetate, isopropanol, glycol or butyl acetate are usually used as solvents in nail polish remover. They also usually contain nourishing oils and fragrances to mask the strong odor of the solvents.

Although acetone dissolves nail polish very well, it also dissolves the acrylic of artificial nails. Acetone dries out the skin and nail very much due to its degreasing function. So if you have very dry skin and nails or artificial nails, you should avoid using nail polish remover containing acetone. However, alcohol-based nail polish remover is also very hard on the skin. Therefore, your hands should always be treated with a rich hand cream.
