What happens during bleaching?

Bleaching does not change the color direction, but only the color depth: it lightens. With bleaching, you can lighten your hair by up to 8 shades. You should also adhere to the specified application time, because in addition to red and yellow tones if the application time is too short, the hair can quickly become porous and brittle if the bleach is applied for too long.

Bleaching agents are available in powder, cream and gel form. The oxidizing agent is only added to the bleach immediately before use. A bleach also contains carrier and thickening agents, wetting agents, alkalizing agents and dye additives.

Is there an alternative to bleaching?

Depending on the initial hair color, you can also lighten your hair by up to 2 shades with a colorant. In contrast to bleaching, coloring is not quite as damaging to the hair. Another alternative is to lighten the hair with partial highlights or painting and create highlights. This method is much gentler, as only individual strands are bleached rather than all of the hair. You can also achieve beautiful color effects with highlights. If the highlights are set in two or more colors, the result is an interesting play of colors and a lively overall effect. Balayage or ombré techniques are still in vogue, where only certain areas are lightened, creating an exciting color gradient.

What should you bear in mind when going blonde?

Blonde is a very popular hair color, but 95% of people are not naturally blonde. If you want a completely natural lightening, then you should not bleach more than 2 shades lighter. The result is clearly visible after just 2 shades and looks natural and soft. If you already have bleached hair, you should exercise extreme caution. This is because the Color tones can develop unexpectedly on hair that has already been bleached. In this case, we strongly recommend that you visit your trusted hairdresser. If your hair already has a reddish tinge, you should use special bleaches to neutralize the unsightly yellow tone. If you want to go very light, we recommend gradual bleaching. It is also important to match the desired bleaching to your skin type.

For fine, brittle and damaged hair you should avoid bleaching. Bleaching makes the hair even more porous, breaks it off and makes it look dull and straw-like.

What comes after bleaching?

Care, care, care! As bleaching puts a lot of strain on the hair, a comprehensive care program is essential. Hair becomes dry very quickly and is more susceptible to external influences such as sun, heat, frequent straightening and blow-drying. With Care products especially for bleached hair, the hair surface is moisturized and then sealed. It is best to choose a mild shampoo and use a Conditioner after every wash. You should treat your hair to a hair mask 1-2 times a week. The rich active ingredients penetrate deep into the hair and fill in gaps. Try to avoid styling at high temperatures, for example with a straightener or curling iron, as far as possible and only blow-dry your hair on a medium heat setting after bleaching. If you still don't want to do without your usual styling, be sure to use a Heat protection.

Bleaching does not wash out, but grows out over time. This results in an unsightly build-up after a few weeks. If you want to dye the roots, only apply the bleach to the darker roots to protect the hair lengths. It is best to leave this process to your hairdresser, who knows the correct composition and technique for bleaching. Also have your ends trimmed regularly every 3 months or so to prevent split ends and hair breakage after bleaching.
